| Aims of the Programme |
This programme is designed for those who are interested in pursuing a career in social work. It is dynamic and creative in design drawing on current research and knowledge from the social sciences, legislative frameworks and contemporary social work theories and practice models. It is underpinned by core values and skills applicable to equipping students to seek eligibility to register as a professional social worker with Social Work England.
The programme seeks to develop empathic social workers who are fully equipped to work in a changing and rapidly evolving society while continuing to embrace a commitment to human rights and social justice, seeking to better the lives of those most vulnerable and at risk by meeting human needs.
The programme is structured across three years to enable students to grow personally, professionally, and academically towards becoming confident, effective and autonomous professionals building their emotional resilience and enhancing their professional curiosity and openness to differing perspectives and ways of knowing and being. |

4) Diverse communities, including those with experiences of disadvantage and oppression within society e.g., minority ethnic groups, people with disabilities, people from impoverished and disadvantages backgrounds, and others including combinations of the above identified groups
5) Social work theories and methods, including assessment, planning, intervention and review, and skills, including communication skills with children, adults and those with particular communication needs
6) Social work services and delivery issues with particular emphasis on partnership working and information sharing across professional disciplines and agencies
7) Research methods and research- informed practice
8) Demonstrate they understand and are working towards Social Work England’s professional standards in readiness for their transition to practice and inclusion on the social work register

A variety of teaching and learning methods will be used using a blended learning approach through a combination of lectures, seminars, on-line self-guided work and exercises, simulations, video and role plays. As a core part of the learning students will be engaged in 170 days of assessed practice learning in the field and 30 days of university-based skills related learning
